Reflection: ICT in Education
REFLECTION on the article ICT in
Bhutanese Education by Yeshey Lhendup
After reading the article, I am struck by the potential
impact that integration of technology could have on education in our country. This
article highlights some of the advantages of using ICT tools in education, such
as increase in access to information, improvement in teaching and learning experiences,
and enhancement of the overall quality of education.
However, this article also takes us through some of
the challenges that need to be overcome in effectively implementing ICT in our
education. The challenges include lack of infrastructure, limited access to
technology in some rural areas, and the need for more teacher training and
support. These are not unique to Bhutan, but rather are common in many
developing countries that are trying to integrate technology into their
education systems.
What I find particularly encouraging and hopeful is
the fact that our country has recognized the importance of ICT in education and
has taken huge steps to promote this integration. For example, we now have ICT
labs with computers established, and also have teachers sent for training
programs to help them effectively use technology in the classrooms. These initiatives
by the government show that there is a strong commitment to improving and achieving
the goal of 21st century education.
In a nutshell, I think the article provides a good
overview of the current status of ICT in our education system and the potential
impact it could have in a few years from now. While there are challenges to be
overcome, I am hopeful that our country will overcome these challenges and make
progress in integrating technology into our education system. Further, our
country will be able to compete with the 21st education and skills.
